Travel Diary: Sugarhouse Studios, London

Wednesday, April 6, 2016

Picking up where I left off here after an extended hiatus over the festive period, I'm sharing some photos of Sugarhouse Studios, where Roxy, Daisy and I jaunted to, courtesy of the Mr and the hire car, whilst in London last November.

Sugarhouse Studios is a recording studio-slash-event space-slash-artists' atelier located in London's East. Designed by Assemble, the colourful tiles that cover the building offer a bight and cheery respite from its industrial surrounds. Read about their inspirations behind designing the building here.

We didn't stay for very long at the studios, just enough to wear the Mr's patience while he waited for us to enjoy this special place and long enough to snap each little tile. We explored around the building's perimeter and enjoyed the music that was coming from inside. I can only image how creative I might be should I have the privilege to call this little barn my studio.

Travel Diary: Greenwich, London

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Recently, the Mr, Daisy and I took a little extended weekend trip to London. Due the fact that dogs are not allowed on the Eurostar, we drove to London from Paris (I've posted before about driving across the channel with a dog here). Having the car in the city ended up being a big help to get around, and avoid the rain! Before heading home we detoured through Greenwich, a place introduced to us by a good friend and somewhere we have grown to hold dear due to the huge park, the views and the quaint village. James and I dream of living there maybe one day... we'll see...

RECIPE : Fig, ricotta and honey toasts

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

It's only until I moved to France that I've started liking figs. Here, you're so aware of what comes in and out of season, that it's hard not to pass up the opportunity to enjoy a fruit or vegetable at its very best. Making a simple and delicious brunch at home at the weekends using in-season treasures found at the the organic market down the road is a luxury I try to indulge in each week. This recipe has to be one of my absolute favourites and I love when fig season rolls around each year.

Tinsel is one of my favourite cafes in Europe...

Paris apartment dreaming

Saturday, September 26, 2015

I have a new procrastination outlet hobby... Perusing the 'Paris' search on Christie's Real Estate. Oh, man. Major address envy. I knew stunning real estate exists in this city, but some of these are incredible. I love the extra comments such as "Private Elevator" and "Staff bedrooms and parking spaces may be acquired"...

Travel Diary: Pyrgos, Santorini

Thursday, September 10, 2015

The tiny, idyllic Cyclades village that captured my heart.

Pyrgos, meaning 'tower', just 7 kilometres inland from the capital Fira, is the highest town on Santorini. Its remoteness means it is still very much untouched by the constant stream of tourists that descend on the island, offering an insight into daily life in the still sleepy, sun-bleached parts of Santorini.

COS x HAY

Wednesday, September 9, 2015

This week two of my favouite Scandinavian brands release their collaboration...

After many years of using Hay furniture in their stores, COS, the Swedish minimalist high-street brand from the H&M company, have collaborated with the Danish design house to bring a curated collection of home-furnishings and serving wear to COS customers.

La Grande Braderie de Lille

Sunday, September 6, 2015

Each year, during the first weekend of September, two million people descend on the northern-France town of Lille for La Grande Brasserie - a city-wide flea market that is the largest and most celebrated in Europe. Just heaven for a chineuse such as myself.

Those precious moments, between finishing work and the setting of the sun, when the City of Lights turns rose gold...

Lunchtime Cherry Blossoms

A beautiful blossom-filled lunch-time break at the Notre Dame.

Marble Moment

Lately very inspired by the way marble is being used in all kinds of forms.

Daniel Buren at the Galerie Kamel Mennour

Thursday, March 12, 2015

Bit by Bit. In situ and situated works, by Daniel Buren, is on view Tuesday through Saturday, from 11am to 7pm, at the Galerie Kamel Menour 6, rue du Pont de Lodi, 75006, Paris. Until March 21, 2015.

For Daniel Buren’s fourth exhibition at the Galerie Kamel Menour, 'Bit by Bit. In situ and situated works’, the artist once again has taken his modus operandi - the 8.7cm exact stripe - and applied it to his surroundings to re-imagine dimension, shape and time.

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild

Thursday, February 19, 2015

Cap Ferrat is a little peninsula off the Côte d’Azur, just east of Nice. Bordered each side by the little beach inlets Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Cap Ferrat is a little slice of French Riviera heaven. Atop the narrowest section of this little peninsula sits a pink palace called the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild.

Orange is the new black :: King's Day, Amsterdam

Saturday, May 3, 2014

The week before last three girlfriends and I packed up a hire car and did a crazy, last-minute, whirlwind 2-day trip to Amsterdam for their national day Koningsdag (King's Day).
We were in Amsterdam for all of 19 hours.
As we weren't there for very long and every time I pulled out my camera I'd loose my girlfriends in a sea of orange-clad folk, I didn't manage to get a whole lot of photos of this festive day to share. However I did mange to capture this Dutchman we came across, setting up his little bric-a-brac table whilst wearing a very smart orange lady-hat in festivity. After being endlessly bombarded by mass-produced, tacky accessories in all the touristic stores, his was the most original, and refreshing, by far.

Orange is the new black, or at least was that weekend.
